Sacramento- Olivia is an 8 month old German Shepherd (or Malinois) mix who is dainty at about 45 pounds. She is energetic and has some OCD (likes to chase shadows) so we think she could be a good candidate for a working dog but her heart murmur likely precludes her from police service. She can be nervous around big dogs (needs  slow intros or will growl) but warms up quickly when she feels safe and is fine with little dogs. She would like to chase cats, but did good the next day with the house cats so again might be fine with proper intros. When she was mauled she broke her leg so we have been dealing with that, when we took her to the third vet we found out she has a murmur. She went to a cardiologist who said the murmur was caused by a tiny hole in her heart (ventricle subtle defect) and that it was not a concern. It would not affect her lifespan or anything else. He also said there were some elongated leaflets in her aortic valve which she might just out grow (recommending another ultrasound in 6 months and if not she would just need to be on meds). So her prognosis is good. We know she is one happy girl who deserves the best in life. You can find out more about our process at: http://recycledpetsnorcal.org/adoption-process/ She is now spayed and is available for adoption (foster to adopt until the leg is healed). She will probably need her leg casted for another month still, which means new bandages every 10-14 days. Energetic and playful pup with a cast isn't the easiest, but she really is smart and loving. Likes to play and cuddle. You can find out about our process at: http://recycledpetsnorcal.org/adoption-process/

All our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines. You can find out more about our adoption process at: http://recycledpetsnorcal.org/adoption-process/
